Insensitive Blogging

Have you ever come across a blog with very “insensitive” posts? I have. I most often prefer these types of blogs. The types of blogs that take down the veil of self-censorship and show what’s truly on the mind of the author. These are the blogs I most often migrate to. It seems also that these types of blogs fall into two categories.

The first type is where the author is crass and often times offensive, but for some reason you don’t mind. It seems almost appealing to your inner critic to read such opinionated blogs. I find myself saying, “Damn, that was really harsh,” while simultaneously applauding whatever point was made.

The second type of blog is where the author is crass and often times offensive, but for some reason…you mind. I think that the primary shortcoming of these blogs isn’t due to the author being insensitive, such as in the blog mentioned above. I believe that these blogs fail because they either have opposing views that are presented in a pompous manner, or they simply fail to display an understanding of the topic that they are writing about.

So remember, insensitive bloggers. Appeal to your reader’s inner critic. Talk shit if you must, but make sure to be knowledgable of your shit.
